Michaela Kopp

Student at St. Norbert College

My name is Michaela Koepp. I am 21 years old and I’m a senior at St. Norbert College. I am double majoring in International Studies and Political Science, double minoring in History and Peace and Justice, and I have a certificate in French. My hobbies include camping, hiking, swimming, listening to music, collecting records, and hanging out with my friends and family. Growing up my family and I spent a lot of time outdoors going on camping trips, bike rides, walks, and swimming; and I continue to spend a lot of time outdoors as my hobbies show. My parents instilled in me an appreciation for nature. As I grew up this appreciation for the great outdoors turned into a passion for advocating for environmental sustainability and fighting against climate change. I want future generations to have the same opportunities to enjoy the outdoors as I did, which is why I applied to be a part of Civic Synergy. I want to help address and solve the issues of climate and change, especially in a bipartisan setting. I think it is important to reach across the aisle and work with people from different backgrounds to address a common concern. I am interested in bipartisanship because as a student majoring in Political Science I’ve learned how partisanship can negatively impact policy. I also have multiple friends and family members who have different political views as me, which is how I’ve learned to cooperate and discuss differing opinions in a civil manner.
